How to Save Instagram Stories Before They Disappear
Why Stories Are Hard to Save
Instagram Stories are designed to be ephemeral, disappearing after 24 hours. Even for your own Stories, saving requires navigating to the Archive section. For other users' Stories, there is no built-in download option — Instagram intentionally omits this feature.
Save Stories with ReelHQ
ReelHQ supports Story downloads alongside Reels, Photos, and Highlights. 1. Open Instagram and view the Story you want to save (must be from a public account). 2. Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) or Share icon and copy the link. 3. Visit ReelHQ.app, paste the link, and click Download. 4. Save the file to your device. Video Stories download as MP4 files; photo Stories download as JPEG.
Downloading Story Highlights
Story Highlights are permanent collections visible on a profile even after 24 hours. ReelHQ handles Highlight downloads the same way as regular Stories. Open the Highlight on the profile page, tap through to the individual slide you want, copy that URL, and paste it into ReelHQ.
Important Notes
Only Stories from public accounts can be downloaded. Private account Stories are never accessible. If a Story contains multiple slides, each slide must be downloaded individually by copying its specific URL. Always respect the privacy and rights of content creators when using downloaded material.
